FEMA Issues Guidance on Export of Prioritized Scarce Health and Medical Supplies (4.7.20)

On April 7, 2020, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) issued a temporary final rule  in the Federal Register that establishes new temporary export restrictions on five types of personal protective equipment (PPE) and authorizes Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to temporarily detain exports of those products. The rule is effective immediately.  This temporary rule will stay in effect until 120 days from its final publication, currently scheduled for April 10, 2020, or August 8, 2020. (Source. DHS)

Manufacturing Capabilities & Critical Supplies

The administration is seeking volunteers who can donate and provide and/or produce large-scale quantities of critical supplies to help the nation respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

KMS is affiliated with the NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Program.  KMS is the MEP Center for Kansas.  The National MEP organization is in direct contact with the White House and the COVID-19 Taskforce.  KMS is also working with state leadership in Kansas.

If you are a manufacturer who currently provides or has the capabilities to quickly develop and produce products, services, and equipment to the medical supply chain or other essential items – KMS needs to hear from you today!

Kansas appreciates the manufacturers who are ready and able to retool to help in producing critically needed COVID-19 supplies—whether you are already making these supplies or need guidance for adapting to do so.

This page lists the critical medical supplies and personal protective equipment that are needed.

Thank you for your help in this effort.
